As part of the Distinguished Visitors in Women’s Studies 2015 line-up of events, Zarqa Nawaz, the creator of Little Mosque on the Prairie will be coming to Windsor to speak and to screen her documentary Me and the Mosque. The film explores the complexities Canadian Muslim women navigate within mosques. I wanted to highlight this event in particular as it comes at a time when women’s rights and Islamophobia dominate the Canadian political landscape.
The rest of the Distinguished Visitors events and speakers are listed on the University of Windsor website (click here!). The keynote and dinner is on Tuesday October 6th and looks stellar as usual. At the very least, it’s an excuse to get out of the sweat pants and into the community!
